same for music
- (10/10/2004) Been to Boban Markovic condert(gipsy stuff), as an opening band played
Hungry Marching Band bunch of freaks from
Williamsburg and around, really reminescent of high school band but they flirt with eastern european stuff.
they don't seem to care if they suck, and have a lot of fun, which is admirable.
- (8/7/2004) At Siberia, cought the japanese underground psychodelic doom
rock guitarists Kaneko Jutok and LSD March,
who are on a short US tour.
They were all dressed in black, with long black hair, dark shades, moving very slowly,
until you give the man a guitar in his hands. Apparently, Kaneko is like a god in Japan.
- (8/6/2004) Wayne and I stumbled into Tonic to listen to
Dub Trio.
They just started playing together, were part of bigger band Actual Proof, and they kick ass!
- (7/15/2004) Wanted to go
Mum concert, at
Bowery Ballroom , with Dan Jupiter,
was to lazy to get tickets, naturally it was sold out.
- (5/17/2004) nostalgia, Fijuci played at Acme Underground
- (5/1/2004) Went to
Coachella!
- (4/15/04) Went to Daniel Johnston concert.
He's the Henry Darger of music, quite fragile chubby old guy, with guitar out of tune,
all tortured singing to his love and god, quite earnestly. So off it's great,
lyrics as it turns out are something. Has a sort of cult following, Jacob said he felt like we were in a church.
- (3/20/04)Went to the concert of Gogol Bordello.
Boy, oh, boy, that was definitely in all time top ten list. On CD, it's OK, but in concert, so much energy,
people jumping for hours, quite a moshpit, damn it, DJ Hutz was playing drums hend held by the crowd, on their
shoulders! One of the opening acts were mongolian throat singers, later they joined in the act, so think of ukranian gypsy punk band
backed up by mongolian throat singers and some hot chicks dressed in bizzare harlequine costumes
banging on the drums.
- (2/1/2004) Went to
Luna concert in
NorthSix
- (12/23/03)Internet radio at JunoBeach. They have
A whisper in the noise cds too.
- Some music reviews at Pitchfork might be useful.
- Wow, another cool band The Rapture, try punk with disco, interveaving instrumentals,
kind of Robert Smith voice.
- (12/22) Also a label supporting bands Southern Records,
recent band I heard there is
Growing,
with song Tepsije(All music is folk music)
, kind of instrumental, godspeedy need I say.
Southern and brainwashed also hooked up to Kranky.
Also in operation Tigerbeat6, with electronika guy Dwayne Sodahberk
.
- (12/..) brainwashed is good for radio
listening, news and connection to bands like TRANS AM
(that's how I found the site)
(TRANS AM's cool cross between godspeed and Sonic Youth)
- Also web radio 3WK underground radio , you can find some of the
bands they play often here
- (12/19/03) Ah, this is so cool. Warp Records .
It's a website of the record label, they have many obscure andd not so obscure bands.
Also they played the featured album every day. Another alternative small label, this one
in states dirtyloop/mush
- (6/08/03) Went to Field Day Music Fest.
It was supposed to be two days in the Long Island, camping, concerts... But they cancelled
to we only spent a day in Giants stadium, while it was raining whole day. Some good bands though,
helped with a smuggled bottle of Kazakh vodka. Some of the bands: Radiohead, Beastie Boys, Beck, Blur,
Underworld, Spiritualized, Elliot Smith...
- (5/29/03) Sonic Youth with
Wilco at Central Park
- (5/27/03) Nick Cave in the theater district
- (3/20/03) GodSpeed you black emperor
at The Polish Home, with the setlist
- nostalgia reci yugo pesama
- nostalgia tjekuca yu muzka
